In simpler times, commercial construction contractors were awarded contracts to build projects, while architects and engineers did all of the planning and design work. This business model held steady for many years, but the paradigm has shifted. Today’s building projects are much more complex, and accommodations must be made for new technologies, ‘green’ building standards and a host of other considerations and owner expectations never before seen in our industry.
In response, a new paradigm has emerged where the standard procedure is to form integrated project teams of architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to work together from the outset of a project’s planning stages to design better outcomes. S. M. Wilson has been actively involved in the planning and design phases of all our projects for some time now. We bring our extensive construction and construction management experience, along with our recently added in-house MEP expertise, to the planning table to assist in designing projects that meet today’s high level of technical sophistication and owner expectations.
Building meaningful partnerships with all parties involved in our projects has been, and continues to be, the cornerstone of what sets us apart from our competition. The stories in this publication show how we are working very closely with architects, engineers, major subcontractors and owner representatives to plan and build data centers, healthcare facilities and other highly complex projects with consistent and mutual success. We value our relationships with all the professionals involved in our projects, and we remain committed to our culture of collaboration. We hope to see you at the planning table in the future.
